The Election of 1910
During the campaign, the Díaz administration often tried to sabotage Madero's political efforts towards his presidency, and they ultimately succeeded in doing so. On June 14, 1910, Díaz had Madero arrested at San Luis Potosí, wrongfully accusing him of inciting a rebellion. The election still took place on June 26, 1910, while Madero was in jail. At the time, Díaz rigged the votes in his favor. On July 10, the Mexican electoral college declared Díaz and Corral the victors, and sent the results to the Mexican Congress for authorization.
